PAINTING COWBRIDGE RAINBOW
ABOUT
Cowbridge Pride was established by Ian H Watkins of Steps along with the Welsh Government and The Vale of Glamorgan Council. It aims to generate funds for LGBTQ+ resources in Cowbridge Schools, promote community spirit, and support local businesses.
Despite its conservative reputation, residents came together to show their support. The money raised went towards supporting local schools and ensuring that pupils have access to LGBTQ+ resources.
WHAT WE DID
Tom Hope PR are responsible for developing Cowbridge Pride's branding, including advertising, social media content, iconography and overall project management. Our focus on education for this project allowed us to create a brand that appeals to both adults and children. We ensured that the branding is memorable and conveys the values of the project. This included creating a unique website and designing all social media content. We created a cohesive and engaging identity for the charity.
We partnered with H, the Welsh Government, and the council to plan, coordinate, and promote inclusive events for Pride. Each event was given a unique artwork and promotional campaign. This included:
-
Mayor's Pride Coffee Morning
-
Raising the LGBTIA+ Flag
-
LGBTQIA+ Q&A
-
All Inclusive Fashion Show
-
The Cowbridge Pride Gala
-
LGBTQ+ Boozey Brunch
-
The Cowbridge Pride Disco
-
LGBTQIA+ Art Exhibition
-
Terrance Higgins HIV Testing
-
Pride Emergency Service School Visit
PAINTING THE TOWN RAINBOW
Cowbridge Town Hall recently underwent a transformation, including a 10ft cascade of pride flowers made from chicken wire, locally sourced flowers, and cable ties. The project took four days to complete. The town hall now features a pride bench, four sets of pride butterfly wings, and a rainbow brick road.
Tom Hope PR provided free posters in English and Welsh to local businesses to display in their windows, as well as creating several banners that were hung in the town. Pride bunting was flown over the high street and floor stickers were placed on the pavement. These efforts brought attention to pride events in the area and demonstrate support for the LGBTQ+ community.
